Black Crown Gin & Tonic collaborates with Scorpion Kings . . . the Amapiano goats DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small for an epic celebration of a proudly African gin.
Black Crown Gin & Tonic, the unapologetically African artisanal gin brand, last night celebrated International G&T Day with a proudly African affair at Bryanston Rooftop . . . . and the Mzansi Shakers team was there to witness and enjoy this grand affair. Amid the majestic African sunset, Black Crown launched its exclusive tunes collab with Amapiano heavyweights, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, bringing this inimitable hybrid sound of piano melodies, Kwaito baseline, and deep house to its guests in authentically African playlist. The playlist is now available on Spotify, for you to enjoy and dance to.
We and the other guests enjoyed music by the evening’s DJs .. . . DJ Roxpaperzscissors and Don Design as they served the guests with dope beats. The venue looked breathtaking . . . decorated beautifully with curated African art on display by Black Crown’s , David Blaq, Great Joy and Themba Mbuyisa. And the beautiful and talented Anele Zondo hosted the event.
And of course. . . Black Crown was flowing throughout the night.
General Manager for Black Crown, Claudia Schmid , says the idea behind African partnerships springs from Black Crown’s brand – an innovative African team effort breaking boundaries and setting benchmarks even though still in its infancy. “Like it takes a village to raise a child, it took a diverse and passionate team of brewers, marketers and supply chain specialists, amongst others, to produce Black Crown. Partnering with African legends for success is therefore who we are and what we do.”
Black Crown is today the finest African-crafted premium gin and tonic mix. It is only 1.5 years old and stems from the SAB group’s innovation hub, ZX Ventures, which was established to take SAB into products beyond beer. When it was first launched, Black Crown was only available in a few outlets in Gauteng, and currently the brand has grown so much that it is now available nationwide. Part of what makes this drink stand out is that it boasts unapologetically African bursts of citrus blended into a tantalizingly sweet, crisp finish. . . and that is what makes it stand out apart from everything else that is available in the market.
Gugu Dlamini, Marketing Lead for Black Crown, had this to say about growing the brand . . . “we had to carefully select our team, challenge ourselves, reframe our mindset and re-engineer the processes at SAB breweries to produce this ready to enjoy gin and tonic crown jewel”.
She says that Black Crown is now determined to help others break down barriers, open fresh perspectives, and inspire people to re-think the norm into an authentically African outcome. Collaborating with the Scorpion Kings, and bringing the brand first exclusively Amapiano playlist to Spotify, is just one innovative African way in which to achieve that.
Dlamini says: “Black Crown unapologetically celebrates African pride, and so intends to continue inspiring young Africans to remain authentic and grounded in an absolute belief in self – a royal state of mind. How better to bring this to life than collaborating with the truly African sound of Scorpion Kings?!”
